Skin cancers are often treated by a wide variety of doctors which include general practitioners, dermatologist, plastic and general surgeons (surgical oncologists).
Majority of skin cancers are small and can be performed in the surgeon’s rooms if he has the facility.
Dr Noushi can provide this service as he has a fully equipped minor operating theatre. Small skin cancers can be removed under local anaesthesia forgoing the costs of operating theatre and hospital admissions.
Larger skin cancers and melanomas require a wide surgical resection and reconstruction with either skin flap or grafts to cover the defects.
Some deep melanomas require sentinel lymph node biopsy and possibly a lymph node clearance (removal of all regional lymph nodes that a cancer has spread to) in order to achieve optimal local control of the cancer.
