Dr Noushi offers a comprehensive breast care encompassing both diagnostic assessment and surgical treatment of breast conditions. He is committed to delivering evidence-based, patient-centred care using advanced techniques in breast diagnostics and surgery.
Dr Noushi performs comprehensive breast assessments for both benign and malignant conditions.
Common reasons for referral include breast lumps, pain, cysts, nipple discharge, impalpable imaging abnormalities, gynaecomastia (male breast enlargement) and cancer follow-up.
Dr Noushi utilises a bedside ultrasound, which aids his clinical breast examination and facilitates interventional procedures. He provides immediate ultrasound guided needle biopsy of breast lesions, drainage of cysts and post-operative seromas (fluid collection). This efficient, integrated approach ensures accurate diagnosis and minimises delays in care.
Dr Noushi offers a broad range of breast surgical procedures for both benign and cancerous condition, including some reconstructive options. While he does not perform cosmetic surgery for purely aesthetic purposes, he applies advanced surgical techniques to optimise both cancer outcomes and cosmetic appearance.
There are several benign breast conditions that may occasionally require surgery. These include the removal of benign or indeterminate breast lumps or cysts (breast lumpectomy), and surgery for nipple discharge (microdochectomy or central duct excision). The aim of surgery is to remove the abnormal tissue while minimising visible scarring and preserving the shape and appearance of the breast. These procedures are typically performed as day surgery under local or general anaesthesia.
Breast cancer surgery involves removal of the cancer with adequate margins and also removal of some or all local lymph nodes to help stage and treat the cancer. Depending on the size and number of breast cancers within the breast a breast consering surgery may be possible. Alternativel the entire breast (Mastectomy) may need to be removed if the disease is extensive. Dr Noushi will asses and confirm the most suitable type of surgery for the cancer depending on the conditions:
Dr Noushi performs breast conserving surgery for early breast cancer, combining oncologic safety with advanced oncoplastic techniques. These procedures involve reshaping or rearranging breast tissue to preserve natural contour and symmetry following cancer removal.
Mastectomy is surgical removal of the entire breast. Dr Noushi performs several mastectomy techniques depending on the clinical scenario, including skin-sparing mastectomy, total mastectomy, and modified radical mastectomy. These are tailored to each patient’s cancer characteristics and reconstruction preferences.
Reconstruction may be immediate or delayed, using oncoplastic techniques, implants, or local tissue flaps. Dr Noushi offers a range of breast reconstruction options which include local breast and tissue flaps to close large breast defects and implant reconstruction, both immediate and delayed reconstruction for cancer patients. For complex reconstructions, Dr Noushi collaborates closely with expert plastic surgeons who specialise in autologous flap reconstruction and microsurgery.
Dr Noushi is part of a multidisciplinary team (MDT) of healthcare specialists based at Northern Beaches and North Shore Private Hospitals. These teams include specialist breast surgeons, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, pathologists, radiologists, and allied health professionals. Together, they meet regularly to review all new breast cancer diagnoses and develop tailored treatment plans.
This collaborative approach ensures that every patient benefits from expert input across multiple fields of breast cancer care. Multidisciplinary care has been shown to significantly improve patient outcomes, including survival and quality of life, and has been the recommended standard of care in Australia since 1995.
MDT meetings are held weekly. All new patients with a breast cancer diagnosis under Dr Noushi’s care are presented at these meetings to ensure each treatment plan is optimised and personalised for the best possible outcome.
